Each position has their own responsibilities and McGinniss is looking to add a third Assistant Director of Athletics for Student Services/Senior Women's Administration/Head Women's Basketball Coach.
As far as responsibilities go, Brown said, "I don't think it would be completely accurate to say there are fewer responsibilities (with there being more than one Assistant Athletic Director), but naturally there are different expectations." He added, "I can tell you I will put plenty of pressure on myself to perform well.
"(I) Oversee and coordinate all athletics communications, marketing and promotions associated with the Department of Athletics and Recreation. Manage all media and public relations along with planning and implementing all marketing and promotional activities of the department."
Brown seems excited to be at Mercy doing his job, stating, "There are so many parts of the job I enjoy that it would be difficult to pick one I like the most. Putting together a program to give the student-athletes the best college experience possible is very rewarding. As a former college athlete and coach, I know how special those years are and how quickly they go by."
He did add however, "Being involved in college athletics takes a big commitment and just like any profession there are sacrifices that need to be made sometimes. I've been fortunate to have great support from my wife, Paula, and my family over the years."
As far as his tenure so far, he said, "My experience in my first two months here has been outstanding. We've got a lot of work to do in order to reach our goals, but I think we're off to a great start."
"I couldn't ask for better support than what I've received to this point and the support for athletics in general has been tremendous."
McGinnis seems excited to have Brown as his latest colleague as well, stating in a March 8 press release, "He (Brown) brings a wealth of talent and experience to the position and the Department. With over a decade of experience in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics, Drew has established himself as one of the finest athletics communications professionals in the business. "
