Living a Posh Life

A Reward For Four Years Well Done

Erica Deliz

Issue date: 5/15/06 Section: Entertainment
Congratulations to the graduates of Mercy College! Your survived the awkwardness of your freshman year and have come into your own nicely. You got through your required class and whether it was with flying colors or by the skin of your teeth, you made it. Now you have adulthood to look forward to.
While adulthood comes with excess freedom, it is also paired with responsibility. You've got through calculus alright, but now you have a lifetime of bills to catch up on. There are no more summer vacations to look forward to. As a matter of fact (if you don't have any right now) you will have children and suddenly summer vacation will become a punishment for you rather then a blessing.
It is for all the above, and everything you have gone through to make it to this point, that a reward is deserved. For all those sleepless night, for all those required four to five page papers, for all your future bosses' demands and unappreciated overtime you deserve to think about you for a change and have one last truly free day.
How does living like a celebrity for a day sound?
At Mercy College, a single room has enough room inside for a bed, a desk, a refrigerator and a wall unit closet. After living in that kind of cramped environment for a semester, a group of college students might enjoy staying in the lap of luxury.
The Trump International Hotel is located right on Columbus Circle, across the street from Central Park. Doormen wait by the entrance to open doors while others wait on the curb signaling cabs for waiting hotel guests.
"Our rooms range from $645 - $2100 a night," the Trump's hotel operator states. "Our two bedroom suit is the most expensive and can fit five people while the smaller room can fit three."
Considering that if three college students were to stay in the smaller room on a weekday, it would only cost them about $215 a night.
For a slightly higher price, four blocks down stands the luxurious Ritz Carlton Hotel. The hotel has 277 guest rooms, a spa and an elegant bar.
