The 2006 Journalism Fellowship is now accepting applications for next year's program.
Twenty winners nationwide will be chosen for a 10-week internship, which will run form June 5 through Aug. 11, 2006, in Indianapolis or Phoenix.
For 32 years, the Pulliam Journalism Fellowship judges have awarded internships to promising journalists committed to pursuing careers in newspapers. At the conclusion of the 2005 Fellowship Program, more than 500 Fellows had completed the program. Many are still working for newspapers as reporters or editors. Four have won the Pulitzer Prize.
The school was found in 1974 as a "finishing school" for college graduates with commitments to newspaper journalism. It welcomes applications from sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. Gannet Co., the world's largest newspaper company, has continued the program after taking over in 2000.
Fellows will be assigned to either the Indianapolis Star or Arizona Republic as a reporter, photographer, graphic artist or page designer. They will have the pleasure of sitting on guest and staff lectures, while being assigned a writing coach.
To apply, students must complete and application form found at www.indystar/pdf.com or www.pdf.arizonacentral.com and follow the guidelines.
This is a paid internship ($650 a week). The deadline for application is Nov. 15.
