Fall Out Boy has become of the hottest bands in the land.

It is no secret that Fall Out Boy are probably the most buzzed about band out there right now. They have built up an extremely loyal and hardcore dedicated fanbase. The band has sold over 200,000 records without any radio or MTV support, all the while being on an independent label. And after logging in all but a mere few days on the road touring relentlessly, the band is about to explode into the mainstream and take over the top of the charts. To make it short Fall Out Boy are about to take over the world.
The band recently stopped by Asbury Park, New Jersey, to take part headlining day two of the three-day Bamboolze Festival. Before the band hit the stage, The Impact got a chance to sit down with frontman Patrick Strump, and ask him some questions on everything from touring, to the writing process, to his feelings on being pegged as the next best thing.

Impact: How was the writing of this album different as opposed to that on your previous album take This To Your Grave?

Patrick: The writing was way different because a lot of it was written on a bus which is weird. Also, me and Pete worked out a system for writing, instead of me trying to come up with inspiration for a song and plopping his lyrics down I would write around his lyrics which made the songs work much better. Also we recorded the album more raw which I hate to say because everyone says that but there was far less studio magic going on than with other albums.

Impact: Is it hard singing someone else's lyrics and putting emotion behind it?

Patrick: Well, I would say it would be if Pete wasn't my best friend and I know him and all the things he is talking about. We live fairly parallel lives, and a lot of the things he was angry about on this record, I was angry about too, but he was the one talking about it. Plus, when he focuses just on the lyrics, and I focus just on the music, it makes the songs stronger and less kind of slapped together.

Impact: With the release of this record, you guys are set to blow up. Is it going to be weird dealing with that?

Patrick: Well, you never know. I mean, I'm not naming names, but there's been a bunch of bands everyone says is the next big thing and then they don't end up living up to the hype. Also, I don't know how people are going to feel about this album. I like it, but I have weird tastes. I don't know if its going to do as well as Take This To Your Grave.
