Sure, college student loves a bargain. But what are they willing to pay for shoes?
Marie Flore, a student at Mercy College, is a frugal shopper. She found an apartment in Washington Weights, to avoid paying lower Manhattan rent prices. She has a
keen eye for a bargain at the grocery store, buying mostly items that are on sale. She filches cleaning supplies from her parents' house when she goes home to visit. But when it comes to shoes, she doesn't mind spending her money.
"I'm partial to stilettos," the 23-year-old Flore said, stretching out her foot to reveal a sexy $150 pair of open-toed Tommy Hilfiger pumps, with pink, yellow polka dots and three-inch heels.
College students have always been big shoe fans. They may not have the best taste, but they cared about the brand, style and overall appearance of their shoes.
The audience in which a Mercy college survey was passed out to was a group of female college students. The age range of the audience was 18 to 25 years-old, With questions like "When shopping for shoes is price/comfort a factor?" And "do you consider yourself to have a shoe fetish?", Mercy females stated that too much is never enough when it comes to their shoes.
To someone with a shoe fetish. the most important quality of a shoe is style. Damaris Lopez a Mercy College student said, "When I go to spend money on shoes, I don't care how much they cost. I care how good they look."
Shoes are an important accessory to college student's daily lives, according to the survey's results. And why is it that women are so obsessed with shoes? According to an answer on the survey, "students are obsessed on how they choose shoes and what statements their footwear makes about them." But why? The demand for comfort at reasonable prices were important for some students, while pricing wasn't an issue for others, only the style.
Women always felt they have the ability to be able to look at people's feet and make an assumption of how they act. Some believe that shoes say a lot about people, and that a person can instantly place another in a social class by the style or brand name of shoes they wear. Though this method of judging people isn't exactly fair, it occasionally turns up to out to be true.
