Through Boston University, Dartmouth College,
festivals, clubs and now Mercy College - a holy fire
has spread.
"I could feel my soul begin to stir. You know that
pain in your chest that doesn't really hurt?" stated
fan Eric North Windham.
On Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Rotunda, Christian rock
band Holyfire will perform at Mercy College in Dobbs
Ferry.
Lead singer and guitarist Justin Kendrick said, "We
are excited to come to Mercy College. We travel all
over the world and the United States. The size of a
community does not matter; we believe the crowds will
come and they always do."
Holyfire is "edgy and pulsing with life," said
Christopher Barrett, Director of the Community
Coffeehouse in Danbury and follower of the band.
Band members Chrisy Kendrick (vocals and keyboard),
John Ciambriells (vocals, drums and guitar), Jim
DeAngelo (bass), Brandie Hanna (guitar and drums) and
Kendrick (vocals, guitar) have "earned the respect of
both Christians and non-Christians. I heard the buzz
after they played that indicated both the music and
the ministry had touched many," Barrett added.
"Not a band, Not a song, A way of life" is the motto
spread across their business card.
"We are not performers or entertainers. We share our
music to communicate the heart of
God to others" said Kendrick.
Charlie Hall, leader of Passion, stated, "Holyfire
has the music and ability, but the greatest stuff is
their hearts to speak out the freedom and life that
Christ brings through music."
Holyfire has set themselves apart from other bands.
"Wherever they go they bring a passion and hunger to
see God. They desire to see real change in people's
lives," said Pastor Rick Rocco of Frontline
Ministries.
Many attest to the power that comes from this band. A
student from Keene State College stated, "All I
remember is standing there listening to your words
about being right with God and then the next moment I
am in tears in front of the stage."
"This music is different other music is dry this has
power," said Mercy College student Elias Lopez.
